Scammers follow the excitement. As interest in crypto, tokenization and digital finance grows, so do fake investment schemes, impersonation and phishing. The good news: most scams share the same warning signs.
1. Guaranteed or unusually high returns
No legitimate adviser can guarantee profits. Promises of fixed daily returns, “risk-free” investments or doubling your money in weeks are the most common sign of a scam.
2. Pressure to act now
Scammers create urgency: limited slots, a deadline today, or a “special” offer that disappears. Real opportunities give you time to think and to get independent advice.
3. Requests for keys, codes or passwords
Nobody needs your private key, seed phrase, passkey, password or one-time code to help you. Anyone who asks for them is trying to take control of your assets.
4. Impersonation of trusted names
Fraudsters copy logos, team photos and company names, then contact you from new numbers or social-media accounts. Always verify through the official contact details on the company’s own website.
5. “Recovery” services
After a loss, victims are often targeted again by people promising to recover funds for an upfront fee. These offers are almost always a second scam.
Stop, verify, then decide. If something feels rushed or secretive, do not send anything until you have confirmed who you are dealing with.
